    Is that right?

    I would have thought that geostationary orbit meant that half the time the satellite would be in darkness, producing no power.

    Tim adds: Err, no. Geostationary is a long way up.

  2. It would be 36,000 km above the Earth, the Earth’s radius is about 6,000 km.

    I see, it’s describing a circle seven times larger than the Earth, so it would only be obscured by the Earth for a small period of time around midnight.
