All a bit biblical, what?

Hospitals are trying to stop pregnant women from having epidural painkillers during childbirth by classing them as "abnormal".

I thought we weren\’t supposed to be imposing Christian values upon people using the NHS?

"in sorrow thou shalt bring forth children; and thy desire shall be to thy husband, and he shall rule over thee" (Genesis 3:16).

  1. More Hippy Chick than Biblical Patriarch I think.

More that women ought to experience the beauty that is natural childbirth. But on the plus side, they are not yet insisting women have orgasms during it as, apparently, some Americans now claim.

Natural dentistry cannot be far behind.

  2. With any new medical fad, it’s pretty safe to assume that it’s more likely to be based on Puritanism rather than anything close to scientific evidence.

  3. Wont the restriction of epidurals be a way of forcing women to use midwives instead of doctors?

  4. “The beauty that is natural childbirth”?

Speaking as someone who’s got that particular T-shirt, I’d be interested to know exactly how many proponents of this new craze have actually experienced what they’re advocating.

  5. Another reason for any woman at the margins of deciding to have children to decide against it!
