Europe is as democratic as it can be for now.

Translation: shut the fuck up and do what we tell you.

Europe can never again have a political system imposed on it from above.

Which is why we are imposing one upon you so shut the fuck up and do what we tell you.

The time for faceless bureaucracy and high-table deal-making is over.

Which is why we\’ll continue to run the system as a faceless bureaucracy leavened with high-table deal-making so shut the fuck up and do what we tell you.

In fact, just go back to sleep and don\’t worry your pretty heads over politics, democracy, the way the continent is ruled: as long, of course, as you shut the fuck up and do what we tell you.

  1. Nail on head old son, but I cannot say I want Europe to become more democractic .Were it to do so it would start to gather even more power and do not want to consult the French on how I live whether or not we all get a vote on it

  2. Doublespeak, doublethink, doubleplusgood.

Unfortunately, the heaving, voting masses are probably unaware that an EU President is in place – and wouldn’t care if they did.

  3. The two main arguments in favour of the EU Foreign Minister have been:

    1) To get a big hitter that can get the Americans, Chinese, Indians, Arabs etc trembling in the boots.

    2) To spread democracy.

    So they pick someone:

Who nobody who has ever heard of with little if any experience in foreign affairs and diplomacy.

Who has a past in the Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament (in favour of unilateral disarmament?). Gives more of a feeling of ‘surrender’ than ‘fight’. Someone more likely to grovel than be grovelled to.

With a title, who has been unelected.

Makes a bit light of the argument of having such a person.

Yep, she’ll probably suggest a more appropriate flag than the starry arsehole we have at the moment.
Perhaps a white cross on a white background.
    Or crescent, perhaps.
