Calm, disinterested scientists: just the facts M\’am, just the facts

A new forecast for 2010 predicted it will be almost 1F (0.6C) higher than the long term average of 57F (14C) across the globe as a result of natural weather patterns and global warming.

The figures, presented at the UN Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen, come as scientists released a statement claiming global warming is “unequivocal” following ‘Climategate’.

That\’s our own Met Office that is.

Entirely ignoring the point that they keep making themselves that climate change is not measured on annual variations, which tell us almost nothing, but by the trend over decades.

And all to make a nice announcement at a conference.

Most scientific of them don\’t you think?

  1. as a result of natural weather patterns and global warming.

Not only do the warmists conflate “weather” and “climate” whenever it suits them, they now seem to be recruiting the natural (ie drivers not associated with human activity) to the cause.

  2. But surely they’re saying this because the motley collection of global warming sceptics/ was 1998 it ‘disproves’ all the other evidence. Just like the fact one person with HIV hasn’t died (oh, has now) of AIDS disproves that link. And the fact no skyscraper has fallen down disproves 9/11. And so on…

  3. Let’s try that again…

But surely they’re saying this because the motley collection of global warming sceptics insist that as 1998 was the warmest year it ‘disproves’ all the other evidence. Just like the fact one person with HIV hasn’t died (oh, has now) of AIDS disproves that link. And the fact no skyscraper has fallen down disproves 9/11. And so on…

  4. No Brian-I was told that it was the CIA…oh, sorry, that was crack cocaine…no, it was…bloody hell, it’s just too hard to keep all of those straight! BTW-I resent “motley”.

  5. The whole concept of a ‘global average temperature’ is a crock anyway. As someone once said, it makes about as much sense as the idea of an average phone number.

  6. And there was I in the pub the other day in the Town of the Followers of Deornoth hearing Margaret Thatcher being slagged off for closing down all the mines…

  7. If the Met Office is predicting a hot summer for ’10 I’m investing in a thermal lined parka.
    And I live near Malaga………..
