There. I see your point. Though I think it also affects behaviour; in a rational world, you would be more nervous of even starting something when there is no care and a minor wound might produce death.
PS I still think casual violence was probably much higher in the past. The sort of violence that intersects with possible killing is a small minority of it.

By your own rational if there was more instances of casual violence then more chances of intersects with a possible killing, therefore murder would have been higher in the past?

As for legal killing that is not really counted.
