Yes, yes, I know Mark is supposed to have been some sort of prophet but the communist Manifesto was written in 1848 you twat, 6 years before Perry turned up to shout at the sons of Nippon.

    could have been better written as

    the idea about opium as the religion of the people“.

    But then I’m a cynical old git …

  2. Surely is he arguing that Marx got that bit right, as proven six years later? He can’t think it was before, as he mentions both dates within a few lines of each other.

    Tim adds: He actually says ” as he knew very well”. Past tense.
