  1. Thirty years ago, if you were qualified for oxbridge but didn’t get in for whatever reason, you went to Bristol or the LSE or one of a few others. The article is bonkers, but the proposed new school raises odd questions – there are lots and lots of existing universities and some private ones, too, any of which could up their published standards, opt out of state support ( I assume that’s what you do to charge 18k) and hire some media professors – what creates the niche so that this start-up thinks it can win a place and pay its way? Are these guys smart and everyone else dumb, or the other way around?
