Eoin\’s latest gorgeous post

Quite a corker.

Given the monstering he\’s obviously getting from the libel lawyers a little bit of advice.

Instead of accusing people of doing something illegal just insult them. Tell em\’ to fuck off, call them cunts.

For there\’s no law against insulting people so. Not yet at least.

  1. His statement includes the promise to research his blog posts in future.

You’d have thought that this whole ‘evidence-based blogging’ thing already included research.

  2. “Tell em’ to fuck off”

To focus on the most important of the issues raised by this post, that apostrophe’s in the wrong place.

  3. Uber-busted. Couldn’t have happened to a nicer fuckwit. Now all we need is Ritchie to fall across similar pitfalls, and the left will be cleansed of useless idiots (the number of useful idiots will remain a matter of personal ideology).

  4. There is indeed a law against using insulting language. There has been a campaign for some time to remove it from the act by the like’s of Rowan Atkinson which has now recently been taken up by the House of Lords.

  5. To do it four times in as many months just shows that he doesn’t do any research what-so-ever. He is an embarrassment to the left. I bet his politician “friends” who repeat his lies in parliament and elsewhere are not too happy to have the rug pulled from under the feet by his incompetence. If he does this one more time (and there are bets being placed as to when that happens) he should do the honourable thing and stop blogging. Like Johan Hari, he’s not got the skill and intelligence to do any writing other than for baby books.

  6. @sad

Nope – 4 times since late October. One per fortnight.

I have a graph of Eoin Apologies somewhere.

If everyone follows up, I reckon he’s about 10% of the way through.

  7. Matt, thanks for correcting me. I was being generous as I didn’t think it was that short a period. He’s even worse than I thought. I shall have to change my bet as to when the next apology is due. At this rate it’ll be before the end of Jan.

BiF, he hardly gets comments. His brainless followers just tweet his posts without thought. They don’t even have enough brains to post positive comments on his blog.

  8. Fair enough, looks like he was bang to rights on everything from point 2 downwards, even if I’m not entirely sure that a court would have required quite so much advertising copy in point 1.

  9. @ S-R #2

He’s only promised to research his blogposts on Virgin Health..

I bet he will with Dick Pickle’s lawyers breathing down his neck..

  10. Instead of accusing people of doing something illegal just insult them. Tell em’ to fuck off, call them cunts.

In fairness, if investigative journalism was reduced to this it wouldn’t be all that effective. History would be different if Woodward and Burnstein had reported, “That Nixon – he’s a right bastard, isn’t he”.

  11. Recently, when in Thailand, we took a taxi from our hotel to the airport, about 1/2 hour drive. The driver indulged on a solid stream-of-consciousness diatribe, 90% was incomprehensible, the remaining 10% was pure Anglo Saxon.

Wowsers have been failing to eradicate Anglo Saxon from my language for the past 1,000 years. It gives me a warm inner glow of satisfaction to hear it as the lingua franca (fnar fnar). Fuck you, cunts.

  12. John B @4 – You forget the final part of the ‘Unholy Trinity’ of Twitter users who have blocked me, the notorious @OwenJones84, a bona fide Stalinist who actually went to Venezuela to prop up tyranny. I hope that he falls foul of the legal system as well…

  13. Of course, the odorous prick will have still won in the end. His original witterings will, as sbml points out above, have been tweeted & re-tweeted ad infinitum. (Isn’t that how he earns his blog rating) His ignominious apologies raise amusement here & many other places but that’s a different audience. His disgrace won’t be nearly as well circulated amongst the ignorati as his smears.

Like I’ve said before, it’s a narrative he contributes to. Got nothing to do with truth, whatsoever.

  14. bloke in spain – “Of course, the odorous prick will have still won in the end. His original witterings will, as sbml points out above, have been tweeted & re-tweeted ad infinitum. (Isn’t that how he earns his blog rating)”

I don’t think so. I think credibility on the internet is slow to build and quick to destroy. Whatever else he says now he is always going to be known as the idiot who shot his mouth off without knowing any facts. The Tweets will have some half life – and I would love to see Virgin Health copy Lord McAlpine and sue anyone who repeats the tweet – but they will fade and no one will re-tweet him ever again.

He simply has no credibility left. Ritchie ought to be watching because this is his fate one day. Eventually people will twig he doesn’t have a clue and then there will be a sudden wave of realisation that he is a moron and he will be done.

But in the meantime we ought to encourage both Lord McAlpine and VH to sue anyone who repeats such claims on Twitter.

By the way, going down the list of retractions, it is interesting to see how many apply to the NHS. Leaving patients in their own urine for instance.

  15. @SMFS: “I would love to see Virgin Health copy Lord McAlpine and sue anyone who repeats the tweet”

    Oh! How I wish!

I’d also like to see more CFOs copying Google and telling the statists to stuff their taxation-by-blackmail.

  16. In fairness, if investigative journalism was reduced to this it wouldn’t be all that effective.

That’s fine and dandy but wholly irrelevant.

Dr (coughs, spits, sniggers) Clarke is neither investigative nor a journalist. He’s merely a minor cog in the spin machine of the tiny remaining Maoist splinter faction of the bit of the Labour party that wants to remain in permanent opposition.

  17. Now I know what lawyers are for.

Yur, mada a right pig’s ear of whatever he wrote about Virgin Care.

Once is careless, but 4 times? What’s Leveson got to say about this chappie? Not that I care. In the end he is self-destructing.

Implode, round in circles, up his own back-si……

  18. I have decided that from now onwards each entry about Virgin Care or its services shall be thoroughly researched before it is posted on my blog to ensure the accuracy of any claims I make.

Whereas when he’s writing about anyone else it will be the usual baloney? Or is he going to tell his readers whenever his subject has got libel lawyers he’s scared of?

  19. SE, that Dr bit grates in my throat too. I know a number of people with PhDs and they hardly ever use the honorific except when the situation involves the doctorate. Having a doctorate in “Irish Republican Feminism in the 1800s” is not something related to the garbage he blurts out in any way whatsoever. So he should not be using the term.

He also abuses his free email address at his Alma Mater. The two together give the impression that he is an intelligent highly educated person who has the skills and knowledge to produce the reports he publishes on his blog.

In fact, he is a classic example why you should not push for 50% (or whatever percentage) of students to go to university – GIGO.

  20. ” Having a doctorate in “Irish Republican Feminism in the 1800s” is not something related to the garbage he blurts out in any way whatsoever. So he should not be using the term.”

Nobel Prize effect! Krugman is exactly the same

  21. Everyone should refer to him as a “Doctor of 19th century Irish Republican Feminism”.

Repeat that often enough and he’ll soon get sick of it.
