  1. The North Koreans do have form in overseas skullduggery, though this has been confined to SE Asia in the past, namely Japan (kidnapping), South Korea (where they’ve been very busy historically, blowing shit up and knocking off ROK officials).

But give Junior credit; he’s stepped things up a notch, he’s looking to be an even bigger bastard than his old man. Still has a long way to equal gramps body count however.

  2. I don’t know why everyone’s so excited about all this. Purging rivals is a standard and necessary part of any dictatorship. The initial dictator normally does it on his way up to power; subsequent ones do it to others within the power structure who may pose a threat, including (and often especially) family members. It’s completely normal procedure.

Kim Jon-Il drowned his brother in a swimming pool at the age of five. That’s impressively proactive.

Japan and South Korea are in Southeast Asia? They did blow up the South Korean Cabinet in Burma. Managing to kill the wonderfully named Lee Bum-suk.

It is impressive Communism can recreate not only the worst economic aspects of capitalism for the workers and serfdom for the peasants, but they can also produce Palace intrigue like the West has not seen since Nero.
