  1. They are idiots of course but it is not totally out of bounds. The youngest recipients were 15 years and 3 months old.

At least Andrew Fitzgibbon probably was. Not quite sure when he was born but he was awarded a VC during the Second Opium War – where he served as a stretcher bearer essentially. Thomas Flinn was definitely 15 when he won his during the Indian Mutiny. Wasn’t killed like Fitzgibbon either. Died in a workhouse many years later.

John Travers Cornwell was all of 16 when he won one for bravery during the Battle of Jutland. He did not survive.

  2. dearieme – “We’ve just elected an MP who’s twenty.”

We could do with a Pitt the Even Younger, but as long as he is not a Benn we should be fine.

How did the Benn family do any way? Anyone know?

  3. dearieme – “Dunno. But at least Jack Straw’s son lost.”

Emily Benn lost in Croydon South. She beat UKIP into third place.

    Idiots.
