Treatment not going so well then

Denied permission to have a New Year pre-party, 36 inmates of a private drug de-addiction and rehabilitation centre at Naharakanta here allegedly strangled the centre’s counsellor to death and escaped from the place in the early hours of Tuesday.

  1. It is was their fault for not accepting that amoral sociopaths are likely to behave like amoral sociopaths.

They foolishly thought that drug users need treatment rather than punishment.

  2. Sorry SMFS but not all drug takers–or even most- are psychos and killers.

The place reads like an enforced jailhouse-type place rather than some sort of Hollywood (Bollywood?) Re-hab clinic. Those inside were described as “inmates” who were enrolled–rather than patrons who enrolled themselves. So it sounds like a private facility with an El Cheapo gubbermint contract. Nor does it sound very medical. To me it reads like some privately run compound being paid to hold crims without access to their habit. On the extra-cheap as there would seem to be no adequate security and one bloke on his own trying to contain 36 disgruntled scumbags with drug habits.

Behara–for that was his name–was asking for it and should have resigned pronto. There must have been other, safer jobs he could have taken.

  3. Mr Ecks – “Sorry SMFS but not all drug takers–or even most- are psychos and killers.”

I disagree. People who know what the rules are, know what suffering their pleasures impose on others, and then do it anyway, just for a quick high, are sociopaths almost by definition.

“To me it reads like some privately run compound being paid to hold crims without access to their habit.”

It hardly matters does it? If the question is “I want to go to town to have a few beers but what can I do if the guard won’t let me?”, the answer is never “Kill him, leave his wife a widow and his children orphans because I really want to paahtay!”.

At least not if you are not a sociopath.

That’s crapola. If they could buy and use whatever they wanted without the scum of the state sticking their nose in none of the problems caused by drugs would exist. The “suffering” imposed on others is the result of the state’s antics. Yeah the crims may do the deed but in response to the actions of the tin god brigade.

As for the guard–I already said they were crims–what did the fools expect leaving one bloke trying to control 36 of them.

It is irrelevant by whom the suffering is imposed. It is imposed. It exists. Some people are perfectly willing to spend the money that supports other people brutalising others. Those are bad people. There is no point saying that if the State did not mandate slavery, sugar plantations would not exist. Especially if your State bans sugar. The only moral option is not to use slave-produced sugar in your tea. No one is forced to take drugs. No one needs to so badly that they cannot consider the consequences. They know them and they embrace them. That is, they are sociopaths.

“As for the guard–I already said they were crims–what did the fools expect leaving one bloke trying to control 36 of them.”

So *these* sociopaths are sociopaths, but not all drug users are sociopaths in general? As I originally said, the mistake was to think these sociopaths were victims of society and not sociopaths. Well, they turned out to be sociopaths. Supports my argument rather than yours I think.

  6. Your “argument” makes no sense whatsoever.

A “sociopath” seems to be anyone who won’t obey whatever “rules” the tin gods of the state dispense. If that is your definition it is a title to glory in.
