Relax, Britain – you can hate the eurozone and still vote remain
Guy Verhofstadt
It’s not the euro we hate, wholly stupid idea though it is. It’s you: and how do we vote to get rid of you?
Why should some fat Belgian with a gap toothed grin have political power over Britain?
I have a serious dilemma regarding the EU.
Between Verhofstad and Schultz – which would I shoot first?
How about Barroso, whilst you make up your mind?
A rifle is the wrong weapon.
Something rather less discriminatory is required. Daniel Hannan would be a sad loss but I’m sure he’d agree that improvement in world affairs resulting from half a dozen smoking craters in Brussels would be worth his sacrifice.
I know the idea is not to give Oxygen to Tax Research UK but today sees the return of the famous ‘Venn Diagrams’ – which given Murphy’s constant babbling on about multinationals taking action to ‘minimise tax’ (which the EU facilitates) mark yet another step in his total disengagement from reality.
In addition I wonder if the excellent Bloke in North Dorset is aware of a very dangerous person living in the South of the County (If my memory serves me) – step forward the appalling Carol Wilcox:
‘Having read this: http://www.ft.com/cms/s/0/278259b8-233e-11e6-aa98-db1e01fabc0c.html#axzz4AHBb25nI and living in Christchurch, I’m so glad that I have a postal vote and will not have to share space with the bigots when I place my cross for Lexit. I know some of the characters – one of them at last year’s hustings spoke of ‘those Asian men assaulting our girls’. You rarely see a face that’s not white here. It was absolutely disgraceful – I was forced to heckle a lot. It’s tough living in True Blue Geriatrica-by-the-Sea.’
In addition Tim – his leading post is simply crying out for a fisking – ‘There are real political issues crying out for our attention’
My favourite issue – which I agree is a pressing one:
‘Real ages remain insufficient to make ends meet for far too many’
Is this a poetic way of describing the pensions crisis, which the parties he supports have done more than any to intensify?
If find that quote incredibly insulting. It’s saying that brexiteers are motivated by hate, which implies that they don’t have any *reasons*.
Isn’t being in the EU but hating the Eurozone like joining the a cricket club and hating cricket?
Verhofstadt and his ilk are the idiots who have destroyed the lives of millions of Southern Europeans. He is an economic war criminal.
anon – “Isn’t being in the EU but hating the Eurozone like joining the a cricket club and hating cricket?”
Well no. It is more like joining a cricket club only to find out that it is a wife-swapping bondage dungeon, only a lot less fun, and then being told that you can’t leave.
We joined a free trade association.
Somehow I suspect the embitterment of the utterly repulsive Carol Wilcox is due to repeated rejections in earlier years from the white men she now so despises, hence her current open mindedness to the mediaeval sexual practices of the members of the RoP.
I guess, however, that even the association of blind kebab shop owners would have sufficient discernment not to want or be able to give her the spit-roasting she wakes up wet from dreaming about.
The mere mention of the name Carol Wilcox is probably sufficient to cause spontaneous detumescence in Rocco Siffredi.
Bloke in Italy: Between Verhofstad and Schultz – which would I shoot first?
Well, why not go for the elephant in the room (well, all right, only part of the elephant) and shoot Donald Tusk?
If for no other reason, it would be interesting to see how long it took before anyone noticed.

Also, the Murphatollah says:
Mental health services are hopelessly inadequate to meet need.
As so often with our Professor of Egonomics (sic), it is all about him. Has he realised that only intensive treatment by a top team of psychiatrists can meet his mental health needs? It’s definitely time for him to be sectioned.
BraveFart
Agree completely with your characterisation of Carol Wilcox – she seems eerily reminiscent of the Peter Simple character Mrs. Dutt pauker – indeed she probably has a kulak’s skull on her desk by her laptop – the only consolation is that Baxter Basics MP is still ‘fighting the good fight’ on the pages of TRUK.
“Having lost the economic arguments for leaving the European Union, ”
What a shit cunt.
And what would be wrong about a referendum on NATO and UN membership?
Sure I know how I would vote if the vote were happening now, though I could change my mind in future, but it is not in the least ridiculous to put it to the test.
“You rarely see a face that’s not white here.”
A telling comment.
“Isn’t being in the EU but hating the Eurozone like joining the a cricket club and hating cricket?”
Actually, no.
There were rules governing entry to the Eurozone, as there are laws governing how you play cricket.
When the time came, Eurozone CC found it had quite the wrong members to form a decent side, none of the right equipment, and not even a ground to play on.
The club was formed anyway, on the understanding that those joining would spend some time in the nets and learn the basics. Sadly, top quality teas were made immediately available, and with no conditions.
@Rob, indeed. One wonders why she chooses to live there, rather than amongst the glorious diversity she demands…
Say…she’s not Billy Bragg in drag, is she?
@Bloke in Italy
Shoot Schultz twice before cutting out his heart, cutting off his head and stuffing everything with garlic.
The top 20 most recommended comments – at the Guardian mind – are all strongly Leave
@John Galt – beat me to it, though I would have nominated Verhostadt because he is Belgian, and I hadn’t thought of decapitation etc. as I am pure of thought …
BTW has anyone ever seen Verhofstadt and David Mellor together?
The plain fact is that it is better to have some European running things in this country because all the British ruling classes are preoccupied with is snobbery and putting up house prices. Carol Wilcox is an expert at ways of dealing with these problems and should be put in charge locally forthwith, which she would set about with her usual good humour , competence (without mentioning she is doing all the work) and ready wit. Since she also annoys the kind of idiot on here who lacks these qualities, this is all to the good.
I can see that Carol would have a dampening affect on house prices.
Dear Mr Worstall
“Relax, Britain – you can hate the eurozone and still vote remain.”
… and join the eurozone later.
Article 3 s.4
4. The Union shall establish an economic and monetary union whose currency is the euro.
https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/consolidated-texts-of-the-eu-treaties-as-amended-by-the-treaty-of-lisbon
Then we can hate the eurozone from the inside.
DP
Come to think of it, DBC, I can’t recall one single occasion when anyone on hear has said they want high or higher house prices.
It’s not just you old chap.
Ah yes, the well-known good humour and ready wit of Carol Wilcox. I’m sure the guards at Treblinka thought their colleagues told a good few one liners about the people in their charge, too.
DBC Reed, Carol Wilcox, Humpty Murphy, and Humpty’s fluffer-in chief Arnald must be an absolute riot at parties.
What do you mean they don’t get invited to any?
“good humour, competence […] ready wit”
OK, it’s official. DBC Retard is a spoof. Hands up, which one of you is it?
DBC Reed
Finally jumping the shark
‘Carol Wilcox is an expert at ways of dealing with these problems’
How so, she’s got a proven record of reducing house prices? in Christchurch? What earthly evidence do you have for this statement which even by the standards of your reference to an LVT as the key to life, the universe and absolutely everything or indeed the equally omnipresent citation of ‘money creation in the modern economy’ as ‘the ultimate game changer’ is a doozy.
‘and should be put in charge locally forthwith, which she would set about with her usual good humour , competence (without mentioning she is doing all the work) and ready wit.’
It’s worth reposting this quote from Wilcox herself – it’s not me making this up – it’s a direct lift from TRUk – I could have lifted several hundred more:
‘I’m so glad that I have a postal vote and will not have to share space with the bigots when I place my cross for Lexit. I know some of the characters – one of them at last year’s hustings spoke of ‘those Asian men assaulting our girls’. You rarely see a face that’s not white here. It was absolutely disgraceful – I was forced to heckle a lot. It’s tough living in True Blue Geriatrica-by-the-Sea’
Yyou think the above quote displays ‘ready wit’? Calling people bigoted for finding the instances of rape and sexual assault being encountered in Germany concerning is for you the mark of ‘good humour’. Calling a coastal town which has the temerity to vote for someone other than Jeremy Corbyn ‘True Blue Geriatrica-by the -Sea’ is ‘humourous’?
I have to concur with the superb BICR – there’s no way your comments can be anything other than satirical – if they aren’t that is deeply worrying.
“Verhofstadt and his ilk are the idiots who have destroyed the lives of millions of Southern Europeans. He is an economic war criminal.”
Ken – it was done deliberately – the only solution for the Euro crisis is political and fiscal union, followed by massive fiscal transfers.
Not sure though that the Germans will ever agree to this – meaning the crisis will drag on and on…
Johnnydub
Yes of course it was done deliberately – which is why there is malice aforethought: people like Verhofstadt are truly evil – they created their single currency with the intention of causing crises that would force ever closer union, with no regard for the “little people” crucified by the single currency. As I said, an economic war criminal. Together with all the others like JCJ and his ilk.
“I have to concur with the superb BICR – there’s no way your [ comments can be anything other than satirical – if they aren’t that is deeply worrying.”
+1
When I read it all I could think of was Poe’s law writ large
@JC
Carol Wilcox would most certainly have a dampening effect (note spelling) on house prices because she is long-time secretary of the Labour Land Campaign whose members include John McDonnell, who is quite a serious dude, and Mark Wadsworth whose statistical work on the finances of LVT and a Basic Income is highly regarded by all involved, although his personal blog is 50% jokes and japes and represents a Young People’s Party which has so far failed to secure an overall majority in the Commons (irony alert).Carol
keeps this lot together with great elan.
And face it, guys, you hate anything that isn’t you. Scanning through the swathes of juvenile attempts at humour and your boring attacks on the same people everyday, there is not a single thing you like anymore.
You’ve become so inbred by Worstall’s lack of everything, that even the most intelligent of you are clapping like seals.
You are the wankers that are destroying this country.
Arnald
Verhofstadt is an economic war criminal. The single currency has destroyed the lives of millions. It doesnt mean that we should support Brexit (which I think would be bad – mainly because I dont really see Westminster being better than Brussels for most policy), although anyone on the left worried about the bottom quintile should probably be in favour of Brexit. You are as guilty of knee jerk responses as those you criticise on TW’s blog.
Arnold Ridley
I thought Murphy was in favour of Guernsey being wiped out (or Even invaded) – are we dancing to his tune now?
