Chris, the correct term is Hominim. The ‘Hominid’ grouping of species includes the Great Apes and Chimpanzees. ‘Hominim’ refers to humans and proto-human species.

Bill: Hominin, if we’re being truly pedantic. Hominini comprises Hominina (humans) plus Australopithecina, which is yer Lucys and Ardis, all extinct, and Panina, which is chimps (regular and bonobo). Then you’ve got Homininae, which is hominins plus gorillas, then Hominidae (Homininae + orangutans) and finally Hominoidea, which is Hominidae plus gibbons and siamangs.

My hypothesis is the Lucy’s mother was constantly warning Lucy she was going to fall while climbing trees. This instilled a fear into Lucy which prevented her from focusing on the task at hand and lead directly to the fall.
