Poverty, that’s what is driving this, poverty

Tampon sales have fallen by a quarter over the past four years, data has revealed, as more women are using contraception methods which stop their monthly cycles.

Contraceptives are free and tampons cost money – plus VAT – meaning that poverty drives women into cont. pg 94.

You have seen that there really is a campaign about tampon poverty, yes?

  1. I wonder if there might be any non-economic reason why women don’t like having their periods?

It is a mystery really. Although I look forward to the Guardian campaign aimed at Natural Menstruation. None of this chemical meddling and nothing made with modern fibres. Nothing but the moss and tree bark Nature intended.

  2. Or sitting for a week on a bucket of sand with a bare arse, taking time off now and again to go and shit on a railway line, hopefully between trains …

  3. Witchie – “Or sitting for a week on a bucket of sand with a bare arse, taking time off now and again to go and shit on a railway line, hopefully between trains …”

    Bucket? Sand? Luxury!

Yeah. You can feel the authenticity from here. This has to join All Natural Dentistry as one of my top campaigns. I wonder if I can get some government money?

  4. Thanks SMFS. The goats ate all the moss and tree bark.

I suspect that advertising reduced the take-up (no pun intended) of tampons, plus the fact that a pad copes with a bit of urinary incontinence … such as when you piss yourself trying to get through a glass ceiling. Or, it’s difficult getting one up when you had a full Somalian FGM.

  5. “tampons cost money – plus VAT”

Yes, shockingly, 32 Asda tampons cost a horrifying 3.125p each instead of 2.976p each. Please, won’t *sombody* think of the (female) children! sobs

  6. Thought that using pills in that manner is not recommended other than very short term if at all, sure that some actaullly have you take a pill each day so you don’t forget or get out of the habit, but there is a varying dosage to allow a cycle
