Err, yes Owen

Donald Trump is now the most powerful man on Earth. You would expect the American left to be despondent; it’s not. The left is stronger than it has been for decades.

Jones’ definition of stronger is that the snowflakes are unhappy.

  1. So Much For Subtlety

He thinks that because some people come out to protest, he has a few friends now. Which is great even if they are fat and menopausal.

He confuses marching together with being popular. The political is not, in the end, the political.

  2. The left’s antics have done the bastards more damage than literally anything that has happened to date.

    Keep going morons.

  3. Luckily for all of us it is the mentalist intersectional left that is stronger than ever, rendering the mainstream left unelectable.

The article BiND links to demonstrates something David Thompson often points out, these are just unpleasant people. Left-wing politics, like pulling the wings off flies, is something nasty, shitty people do.

  4. The applause as the ignorant old biddy is escorted off the plane proves Mr Ecks point. Ordinary people don’t like these ‘morally superior’ beings feeling entitled to berate those they consider their inferiors at any time they wish.

  5. There have been a few pictures of the aftermath of the protests – rubbish strewn everywhere and signs dumped on the ground.

I wonder if this is because they are too lazy to take their rubbish home with them or if it’s because the signs were handed to them by others – eg small groups of activists making signs and giving them to protesters who then feel no responsibility to dispose of the signs themselves.

  6. There doesn’t seem to be an American equivalent of the SWP, who have spent decades handing out signs to soft-leftist too stupid to realise what waving them might signify.

  7. Gareth: “There have been a few pictures of the aftermath of the protests – rubbish strewn everywhere and signs dumped on the ground.”

And one video of a man gathering them all up for the sanitation workers.

In a ‘Make America Great Again!’ baseball cap.

  8. “With our felt vaginas and our knitted pussyhats, we shall overcome”

I doubt anyone, ever felt those vaginas.

    I’m here all week, etc..

  9. ‘The left is stronger than it has been for decades.’

The Democrat Party is dead. They have become a national party, and not a local party. They have minority presence is 35 state governments. They control just 5. They are minorities in the U.S. House and Senate.

Why? Because the Democrat Party went left.

So the question is, is Jones stupid or crazy? Or some of each?

  10. The Left has spent the last…erm forever… making the Right wear a tiny number of extremist loons. Just look at all the “KKK supports trump!” shit. Forget the fact that there’s about 3 people in the KKK and the US has a binary political system so they’re going to support one or the other.

However, in the Internet era, the Left is going to have to wear its own loonies, and there are millions of them out incoherently protesting and smashing stuff.

  11. The Inimitable Steve

Yarp. As estimable conservablogger RS McCain put it:

Does that look like a mainstream political movement to you?

Ugly women holding up ugly signs expressing ugly sentiments

Politics is about persuasion, so who’s going to be persuaded by 20-stone purple-haired feminists dressed up as vaginas and screaming at the president? Or geriatric sperm donee Madonna, looking like a bit of chewed-up old leather with makeup on it, shrieking about bombing the White House?

Trump was supposed to be the kooky extremist. Remember all the breathless warnings about “normalising” The Donald? But when voters see a parade of people who look like extras from the Lord of the Rings dirtying up their capital, it makes Trump look more and more sane and reasonable in comparison.

Letting your freak flag fly might be cathartic to the participants, but it’s electoral cancer.

The progressive left is more rubber ducked than a toddler’s bathtime. Owen is confusing the last macabre dance of a man on the gallows with signs of rude health.

  12. What we need now is Nancy Pelosi et al refusing to condemn the protests and violence, or even better encouraging them. The attack ads in 2020 will write themselves, and they’ll have Pelosi and Schumer’s ugly mugs all over them.

And watch closely if violence escalates – they’ll try hard to make Trump wear it, but just imagine it split-screened with Pelosi and it’s “vote against these guys” persuasional magic.

  13. Evil is only ever scotched not finally defeated.

Yes the twats are in a bad state. But that is no excuse for being complacent–we need to be on their case until there is nothing left of them but a bad stench–and then be ever vigilant with the Glade..

  14. I think Glenn Reynolds nails it here: https://pjmedia.com/instapundit/255223/

    In particular:

In fact, Trump’s basically gaslighting them. Knowing how much they hate him, he’s constantly provoking them to go over the top. Sean Spicer’s crowd-size remarks are all about making them seem petty and negative. (And, possibly, teeing up crowd-size comparisons at next week’s March For Life, which the press normally ignores but which Trump will probably force them to cover).

At what point will the press work out that he’s manipulating them into doing his work for him?

The counter-move for the press isn’t to double down on anti-Trump messaging. The counter-move is to bolster its own trustworthiness by acting more neutral and sober, and by being more trustworthy. If the news media actually focused on reporting facts accurately and straightforwardly, on leaving opinion to the pundits, and on giving Trump a clearly fair shake, then Trump’s tactics wouldn’t work, and any actual dirt they found on him would do actual damage. He’s betting on the press being insufficiently mature and self-controlled to manage that. So far, his bet is paying off.

I suspect they’re not capable of laying off and giving him a fair shake, seeing as their worst fear is that he’ll actually be a competent president. They don’t want to make him look like one.

So they’re rather in a lose-lose situation. Ha ha. World’s tiniest violin playing a sad tune for them and all that.

  15. Hey, if hundreds of thousands of women – most white, most obviously middle-class, and most somewhat overweight – wearing pink “pussy hats” doesn’t convince you The Revolution is just around the corner, nothing will.

  16. “They are up against a president who lost the popular vote….

In November, Clintonian-centrism – whose compelling selling point was the ability to win – was defeated”

So who the fuck won Owen? Who do you think is supposed to be in the White House?

  17. Fakey fake news. The President is elected by electors in the electoral college. Been that way for, what, 225 years? Clinton ‘winning’ the popular vote is like winning Miss Congeniality at Miss America pageant.

‘one of the many new progressive organisations committed to taking on the Trump ascendancy.’

    New?

Taking on. Resisting Trump. One wonders WTF it means. Nasty women saying nasty things in public will win them what?

  18. re: Gamecock
In American football it matters not how many yards your team gets, only how many points the team puts up. Democrats puts up more yards (voters), Republican puts up more points (electoral college vote). This can usually happens when the team with more yards fumbled at inopportune time, which the Clinton campaign did time and time again, such as not showing up in Wisconsin and Michigan.

  19. Funny thing is, Trump doesn’t have to be a great president, or even a good one. If he’s only a slightly sh1t one he’ll have so outstripped the expectations framed by the media that he’ll have massive incumbent’s advantage in 2020.

Particularly if the Dems are dumb enough to run Michelle Obama to try another push at shaming people into voting for her…

“Taking on. Resisting Trump. One wonders WTF it means. Nasty women saying nasty things and setting fire to their opponents hair in public will win them what?”
