I wonder how much of this Ritchie and Colin Hines would agree with?

“M.P.’s will be converted from windbags into men of action.”

The Curajus State, check

The government will spend much more money on research and development, with rates of return of “one hundred-fold.”

Oh yes, candidly

Cheap, wage-undercutting foreign imports will not be allowed.

Progressive protectionism

Foreign investment abroad will be eliminated

Capital controls

Inheritance will not be allowed,

100% inheritance tax

The small shopkeeper shall be favored over chain stores,

Localism and local economies.

All citizens, rich and poor, are to have the right to an education up through age 18

Ritchie extends that to PhD but still.

So there’s a certain similarity to Oswald Moseley then.

  1. “12. Any banker who breaks the law will go to jail, just as a poor person would.”

Oh yes Professor Murphy, I see you on your lovely black shirt.

  2. Impressive. Socialist and believer in the world wide Jewish conspiracy but absolutely not an anti semite. A natural fit for the modern Labour Party.

  3. 17. Hospitals will be coordinated, but not nationalized. That would be going too far.

So the NHS was a step too far even for Labour minister Oswald Mosley.

  4. Bearing in mind Richie’s ego combined with his limited knowledge of historical characters, he would probably think this Mosley chap is stealing all his ideas.

  5. @BiF

My first thought, too. And I think The Donald would tick many of those boxes, as well (which does not make him LITERALLY HITLER, or even LITERALLY OSWALD 🙂 ).

  6. 12. Any banker who breaks the law will go to jail, just as a poor person would.

Would that hold for non-bankers running banks as well?

Not for years I have to admit. The obvious anti semitism throughout has precluded me from seeking it out again to see whether it bears comparison with the ‘triple whammy’ of books in print by the Murphmonster. From recollection the ‘Doctrine of Fascism’ might be a better fit, but the full translation of all 40 pages or so is harder to get – though there is an abridged version here

    http://www.worldfuturefund.org/wffmaster/Reading/Germany/mussolini.htm

Tends to be too liberally sprinkled with the words ‘fascism’ and ‘fascist’ to immediately be comparable but the sentiments are very much along similar lines certainly..

  8. Tends to be too liberally sprinkled with the words ‘fascism’ and ‘fascist’

Which text was that again? Hard to tell.

  9. Rob

It’s the English translation linked above of the essay by Mussolini/Gentile – ‘The Doctrine of Fascism’…. Takes about 10 minutes to read….

  10. “M.P.’s will be converted from windbags into men of action.”

    Point 25.

“The government will spend much more money on research and development, with rates of return of “one hundred-fold.””

    Implied by point 13?

“Cheap, wage-undercutting foreign imports will not be allowed.”

    Point 7.

“Foreign investment abroad will be eliminated”

Related to points 7 and 13? Implies point 23 part 3.

    “Inheritance will not be allowed”

    Point 11.

“The small shopkeeper shall be favored over chain stores”

    Point 16.

“All citizens, rich and poor, are to have the right to an education up through age 18”

    Point 20.

  11. Where, exactly, are we going to find research and development, that the private sector doesn’t already do, that gives 100-fold returns?

To be fair, I’m sure I could pick apart NASA’s programs and find an item or two that qualifies mixed in with all of the research that ended up with no gains. With a fiscal modifier of 2.42(2010), despite the massive amount of pork going to programs like SLS, some of our tax dollars have to be buying the right items.

  12. At what point does Ritchie convert himself from a windbag (and a rather puffy, self-satisfied one at that) to a man of action? And does said conversion have to involve funding from a left-leaning NGO, or can he do it unassisted?

  13. DtP: I can imagine Murphy signing the death warrants, but I can’t actually see him performing the executions.

  14. Inheritance not allowed, is this to hide the fact he’s got very little to leave or that he’s fallen out with his nearest and dearest and they are getting now’t.
