Odd really, isn’t it?

Labour focuses on pupils ‘crammed into classrooms like sardines’

Labour also complains about money being used to build new schools.

  1. I think you’re right to find something fishy about this story, Tim.
Wasn’t it al about education, education, education… with 13 years to do something.

  2. “However, it will not be clear until its manifesto is published how increased spending on schools will be funded.”

Pretty sure it won’t be clear even after it’s published!

  3. So Much For Subtlety

Crammed into schools like sardines? Come on. Have any of these people seen a British school?

The only comparison with sardines is the way they are crammed into the Pacific ocean.

  4. When Labour rants on about school funding it plays the “will somebody please think of the children” card, but the reality is that Labour is primarily concerned with the teaching unions because they are significant donors to the Labour party (although not as much as Unison)

The teachers unions care about where money goes because they want it in teachers pay packets and pensions (thereby justifying union subs).

Thus money spent on new schools, pupils or anything other than teachers pay packets is wasted from the perspective of both Labour and the unions. They just can’t come out and say it outright.

There is the other aspect that having the schools and the NHS in perpetual crisis helps Labour, so they can’t actually fix the problems as that would end the crisis.
