Well, yes, this happens

The changing size of British breasts: How the average woman’s bust has bloomed from a modest 34B to a curvy 34DD like Kim Kardashian in just 50 years

The female figure does tend to blossom out over the decades, no?

  1. It’s related to two things as i see it: fat in the average national diet and difficulty of mate selection. In harder economic times it’s more important to find a better man, hence bigger boobs.

  2. Divorce laws are so penal to men, British women benefit if they get divorced. There is little threat in the end of a marriage. Hence little need to please their husbands in any way whatsoever.

So British women are getting obese. If divorce was fairer they would be thinner.

  3. Tim Newman,

“Well, have the waist and belly sizes expanded in parallel? If so, I don’t see this as being a particularly good thing.”

It’s almost entirely related. They’re fat stores. Do exercise, your body will burn fat.

Maybe it’s because I’ve become more conscious of my own weight, but I’ve noticed in the past few years that women have a serious obesity problem, and I’d say in a way that I’m not seeing with men.

Not just you. Above about 40 there are more or less equal proportions of fatties. Below that there are a disproportionately large number of fat women.

It’s seems to be a fairly common sight among the yoof, slim man with porky woman. I did wonder if there’s been an enforced change in male preferences. Fewer slim women, men come to prefer porkier women…

  5. These comments raise a lot of questions. Obviously there needs to be more research in this area – I wonder if grants are available for a hands-on study of the subject?
