43% of young Germans are mad

Merkel’s relatively open stance on refugees has also helped to convince left-leaning and young voters that the country is in good hands: an extraordinary 57% of 18-21 year olds prefer the conservative Merkel to Schulz as chancellor.

Yeah, I know it’s Merkel, and sure, the young can and possibly should be left wing. But 43% prefer sodding Schulzie?

  1. Any German who doesn’t believe in the immediate return of every non-genuine refugee/ illegal immigrant to their homelands is mad. The point being that they are illegally in their country and shouldn’t be there , so they can sod off.

  2. I should add, the current system seems to be like an aptitude test. Like a bank having a vault and then letting anyone who successfully breaks in to it keep a part of the contents, because well, the banks customers are just too rich and they’ve always got a bit more money.

Those who don’t attempt to break in to it get nothing. And thus the incentive is created.

  3. Guardian has not noticed that a quite significant proportion of that age group came to Germany in 2015 as migrants / refugees.

Of course they like Merkel’s policies !

  4. Let’s be frank. Unless action is taken very very soon, we are all fucked. Barcelona Thursday, Finland Friday though – maybe they want to wake us up. I am starting to notice lefty friends of mine adapting their previous positions on immigration and ‘Islamophobia’. One guy in particular who was always very keen to equate a dislike of Islamist terrorism with racism has started himself to say “but of course politicised Islam isn’t a race, it’s just a patriarchal belief system which people can abandon if they want.”

Leaving aside the punishment for apostasy, he’s obviously right. As lefties do, he seems to have completely forgotten that he once held the contrary position, but I don’t mind that – just as long as he eventually comes round, that’s about as much as we can expect.

We keep being told that we can’t be too hard on these people because that is a recruiting sergeant for their cause. So what is every mown-down seven-year-old boy or explosively eviscerated eight-year-old girl?

We haven’t heard quite so much from our resident rent a gob Ironman on this subject since Manchester, thinking about it.

  5. Merkel has moved Germany into 1984 territory:
“Germany: Journalist Sentenced to Six Months Jail for Publishing Historic Photo by Egri Nök

GERMANY – A district court in Munich earlier today sentenced the German journalist Michael Stürzenberger to six months in jail and an additional 100 hours of charitable work for publishing this photo in his Facebook timeline.

It shows a Nazi and Amin al-Husseini, the Grand Mufti of Jerusalem, shaking hands in 1941 in Berlin.

Along with the photo, he had written a review of an article in the Süddeutsche Zeitung, ‘Hakenkreuz und Halbmond’ (“Swastika and Crescent Moon”) about the National Socialists’ admiration for Islam, and mentioned his own review [of that Süddeutsche article in PI-News].

For this post, in particular the photo, the court found Stürzenberger guilty of “disseminating the propaganda of anti-constitutional organizations”.

The prosecution had accused Stürzenberger of “inciting hatred towards Islam” and “denigrating Islam” by publishing the photo. A superficial onlooker, the prosecution argued, could not know that this black and white photo in Stürzenberger’s timeline was a historical document.”

  6. I wonder if military action might not be a bad idea–against both Germany and Sweden. They are both nations in the grip of leftist treason. And in the case of Germany we already have troops on the ground.

We could hire a substantial number of Americans troops as mercs –with a guaranteed share of the spoils. Of course cultural and artistic sites would be protected during the takeover.

There would be a new settlement for “Germany” which would cease to exist and be returned to its various historic components–each now a sovereign state. Thus undoing the evil of almost every German political turd from Bismark to Merkel.

It would cost the countries a small amount of blood and a lot of cash but no more than being turned into Greater Dindustan will do. And as for attractive German/Swedish women a scheme whereby cash/assets could be transferred to women willing to have sex and even marry their nations new re-founders is a much nicer idea than the “grab and rape” plan now being imposed on such women.

    Of course I jest.

  7. A superficial onlooker, the prosecution argued, could not know that this black and white photo in Stürzenberger’s timeline was a historical document.

What? Just look at it. Perhaps a blind onlooker would not know. Did the court erupt in laughter when this statement was made? Presumably not, as a system that can jail someone for accurately reporting historical events would happily jail people who show their contempt for it.

A system which makes absurd judgements like this to jail people, easily refutable simply by looking at the photo, is truly a totalitarian one.

  8. After 60 years or so of fairly liberal democracy it looks like the German character is reasserting itself.

  9. germany – a curse on europe since 1870. I keep on being told how clever germans are because of their industry but then you look at their continual attempts to destroy europe to realise that they are a bunch of suicidal morons

  10. Moqifen

Harsh, but true. Churchill was right: Germany should have been de-industrialised. The German warrior class entered industry and then the German political class realised that the EU was the means to a Fourth Reich.

I have German friends, and it’s interesting how much they complacently assume that the world would be a better place if everyone and every country was more like Germans and Germany….

  11. Most younger people think that a black and white photograph with grain must be roughly contemporary with Shakespeare (those that have the vaguest idea of who he was and when he lived).
There is no way anyone sentient would think that photograph was recent.

  12. JS: Merkel has shaken hands with many sympathetic to the ideology of the Grand Mufti in the present. Perhaps she is sensitive about the precedents…there is also an interview with the journalist describing the treatment of those who came to observe the trial, double searching them to intimidate, removal of mobile phones, attempted removal of pens..

  13. Germany: what’s wrong with it and how to cure it?. I certainly do not know.

    Consider.

Germany and Italy provided many immigrants to America. But
about half of all the Italians returned to Italy; virtually none of the Germans left America.

German immigration to the U.S. was so preponderant George
Washington (in discussions of whether there should be established an “official language”) favored German for the purpose.

Among the nations of Europe, which all, to one extent or another, burdened the existence of Jews in their midst, that most favored by Jews themselves and in which those Jews seemed to be able to aspire to distinction in fields cultural,
financial, economic, and artistic, was certainly Germany.

It was a Jew who proposed the Iron Cross for Hitler in WWI
(and another who actually pinned it on). Hitler (personally, as required by law) signed each document, individually, by which over 1500 Jews (according to the recently-enacted Nuremburg laws) were promoted to be general officers in the Nazi military; interfered in operation of the (quite effective) submarine service (estimated over 70% Jews). Einstein himself refused, quite flatly, to sign a circularized document criticizing German political positions (on the basis “I AM a German”), though shortly after, he left for the U.S.

The high level of German design and craftsmanship has been
recognized for quite some time–over an extraordinarily wide range of products. Especially, before imports were separable from domestic, they (imports–especially from Germany) were often favored. leading to English agitation for labelling as to country of origin.

On that note–I have a \personal story to relate. Some years ago–30, 35,–I met (here in the U,S,) a Korean businessman. Among the products carried (and made in his company) were labels–“Made in Sweden,” “Made in Norway,” “Made in Spain,” etc., sold in units of 1000 each. The very most popular, he explained, was the “Made in Germany” label (for which customers were chiefly German department stores).

  14. How anyone could describe Merkel as ‘conservative’ when she’s doing her best to lay waste to Germany is beyond me.

  15. “to be
Your assertions are bizarre. Can you provide any reliable evidence to support your statements?

  16. A brief look through history from my perspective of growing up in Sheffield steel-making is that the German technological helft was in the west, Sheffield had deep links with the Ruhr/Rhine steel areas, Sheffield companies would send apprentices off to the Rhine, swapping them for apprentices coming over to Sheffield.

The same general area was also the main source of emigrants. It was the Prussians that was the militarism.

  17. More German thought crime:
“Prosecutors in the southwest German city of Saarbrücken are investigating an Iran-born AfD politician over accusations that she made Islamophobic statements.

A prosecutor’s office spokeswoman said on Wednesday that AfD politician Laleh Hadjimohamadvali – a candidate in the upcoming national elections – is suspected of defamation of religious groups, as well as incitement to hatred.”

Mutti obviously knows more about Islam than someone with that background.
