  1. ‘Like all Muslim women ….. she’s found herself a target in the heightened climate of Islamophobia and racism in the modern United States.’

    Every single one, yeah?

  2. Insecure teenager finds a nice business angle in the victimhood stakes. To a certain extent I admire her for that, she’s just a product of her time.

  3. Islamophobia isn’t nice but it’s not as bad as being murdered. Ask the 50 gays at Orlando if they would rather get called a faggot or shot in the balls and left to bleed out?

  4. “Amani Al-Khatahtbeh remembers the day Donald Trump first began talking about a Muslim ban.”

Does she mean a temporary ban on visas being issued to people in countries which were either in a state of civil war, and whose antecedents could therefore not be verified, or which were officially dedicated to killing Americans?

Cheap shot, I know, but how many Muslim countries would tolerate a female setting up a website dedicated to criticism of their leaders? Try it in Saudi, love.

    I don’t think that’s a cheap shot.

I think it’s fair comment to remind people complaining about (comparatively) small beer that the alternatives to their plight are much much worse. Especially if they appear to have an agenda/blaming others for their complaints.

“Sorry if you occasionally feel a bit oppressed. It’s just that sometimes people may confuse you with others of the same race, religion and origin who spend their days chucking gays off buildings.”

  6. ‘We decided to make the conversation about us’

But who’s listening apart yourselves and some old trout writing for the guardian?

I wonder what her imam would say about the photos that accompany the article. Her hair is covered, certainly, but her poses are distinctly coquettish.

  7. >Islamophobia isn’t nice

It is perfectly rational, given what the Prophet told his followers to do. Nice doesn’t come into it.

  8. Remind me, is there a ban on people travelling from the largest Muslim country in the world – Indonesia? Or the second largest Muslim country, Pakistan? Or the third largest, India, Or the fourth largest, Bangladesh? Or the fifth largest, Nigeria? Only 12% of Muslims live in the countries that there is a travel ban from. More people in the UK are banned from driving*, therefore clearly “British people are banned from driving”.

*18% of the UK population are under 17 and are legally banned from driving. 18% is greater than 12%, so if 12% means “X are banned”, then clearly 18% must even more emphattically mean that “X are banned”.

Does she remember the day Obama started talking about it? No? She does surprise me.
