Who should have the right to define rape: survivors who have experienced sexual violence or those who are accused of perpetrating it?
This is also good:
Of course, being accused of sexual assault hurts. And there are things that we can and should do to help accused students — namely, providing them with psychological counsel. But accused men’s pain does not excuse rape, and men shouldn’t be the ones defining it. Most rapists, even those who have been criminally convicted, will never label themselves as such. More broadly, there is a tendency on the part of college-age men to define sexual assault according to their own standards, not according to campus guidelines.
You’ve borrowed $150k to go to atop college, you’re 3 months away from the brass ring of an Ivy League degree, you’re falsely accused of sexual assault and thrown out.
What’s on offer is counselling, not an actual defence.

“We want show trials, and we want them now!”
accused men’s pain does not excuse rape
ie prosecuting false claims is excusing rape. Feminist logic.
Having read that quote, I can guarantee that the act of reading it is an act of rape by the New York Times on the reader. By definition.
Don’t let the perpetrator try to change the definition on you; you’re a victim, and you deserve to be heard.
Also:
You’ve borrowed $150k to go to a top college…where apparently the chances of you being raped are higher than in the very worst of African war zones.
Yeah, right.
“accused men’s pain does not excuse rape”
Has anyone, ever, claimed that it does?
If someone is guilty of rape they deserve whatever ‘pain’ they feel. If they are not then they are deserving of sympathy.
In neither case who is trying to ‘excuse’ rape?
That Straw man could easily become Straw Mayor in Straw City.
‘Obama-era guidelines on how universities handle sexual misconduct complaints’
Sexual assault is a local crime. It’s none of the Federal government’s fvcking business. DeVos should remove the restrictions without comment. Along with a million other Federal rules.
Rape is already clearly defined in Law and has been for a very long time.
Ph.D. candidates in Sociology.
What else do you need to know?

Guy is a dude: first three para’s of the article are him touting for a date. Immediately after being cleared of a serious crime.
Ballsy strategy, but admirable
@ DtP
If you make a loo roll out of 200 bachelor degrees in sociology, what do you make out of Ph.D. degrees in sociology?
A Ph.D. in Sociology is why you need loo rolls in the first place.
Speaking of US law enforcement, I liked this story, where a “bisexual, nonbinary and intersex,” male student armed with a penknife shouted ‘Hey, shoot me!’ to the cops, who promptly did, dead.

Was once accused by a female colleague that I made her feel uncomfortable and moved to another project, I felt terrible and wondered what I had done, was really upsetting. Then another colleague took me aside and told me this was a common tactic she used when she couldn’t get her way to move people off a project and get someone who would agree with what she wanted and the managers were all too frightened to go to HR and have to deal with the issue as she didn’t make specific claims, just that she felt ‘uncomfortable’ so she had been getting away with it for years.
There are vile people out there who are happy to make false accusations for personal benefit, the system should protect the victims of those people just as they protect rape victims, but hey it’s women against men so tough luck
All subjectivist Marxian bullshit needs to junked as do the subjectivist Marxian s themselves.
The good old “reasonable man” test needs to applied to all femmi-claims of rape/harassment etc.
Nice try Mr Ecks, but to feminists there’s no such thing as a reasonable man.
We’re all rapists that haven’t been nicked yet, and if we don’t get nicked it’s because the patriarchy.
No point trying to reason with’em.
“You’ve borrowed $150k to go to atop college, you’re 3 months away from the brass ring of an Ivy League degree, you’re falsely accused of sexual assault and thrown out.”
If employers haven’t already figured these places are a scam and not a good way to judge excellence, they’re going to.
“A Ph.D. in Sociology is why you need loo rolls in the first place”
Sociology is a malignant tumour in the brain of Western culture.
Jay and Lynn got there over thirty-five years ago:
Humphrey: Couldn’t you try reasoning with her?
Hacker: She’s a sociology student.
Humphrey: Oh.
Sociology: The study of those who don’t need to be studied by those who do.
Anyway , “Legislature” ?
ALL laws are written by MEN !
Blimey c’mon Tim, get with the project.

No doubt there will be riots there as “LGYMCA Lives Matter” protest by looting and burning down some Korean owned corner shops.
Or maybe not.
DtP,
“Sociology: The study of those who don’t need to be studied by those who do.”
Brilliant. Consider it stolen.
I’m pretty sure I stole it from someone else.
No doubt there will be riots there as “LGYMCA Lives Matter” protest by looting and burning down some Korean owned corner shops.
Won’t be the Koreans. During the L.A. riots the Koreans stood guard on the roofs of their stores with hunting rifles…
Bloke in Italy: I wasn’t proposing to reason with them.
It will be put on them and enforced –if need be–with backhanders all round.
If employers haven’t already figured these places are a scam and not a good way to judge excellence, they’re going to.
Not if the employers are the government and giant corporations that might as well be state-owned. They love this stuff.

I would have thought that Big and Tall would have been a more apt target.
