Trump’s tax reform

What joy with the new Republican tax reform framework – anything that makes the Economic Policy Institute whine is obviously a good idea. That teachers’ union head Randi Weingarten is having hysterics is just icing on that cake which is not, this time, a lie. The plan’s not perfect, that’s true, but this is politics — being absolutely right isn’t something available in this sphere of life.

  1. Nice piece.

    > The plan would nearly double the standard deduction to $12,000 for individuals and $24,000 for families.

It’s the Worstall plan: tackling poverty by not having the state take so much money off poor people in the first place.

  2. So Much For Subtlety

Nice article. Good to see you enlightening people on the other side of the pond. Would they print something on why leaving the Empire was such a mistake?

However if Trump throws the donor-class some tax cuts and gives his base nothing at all – no end to Obamacare, no Wall, Amnesty for All, continued funding of Planned Parenthood – things are not going to go well. He has to remember to dance with the one what brung him. And billionaires did not put him in the White House.

  3. I would be entirely unsurprised if that fucking evil incompetent traitorous duo of McConnell and Ryan try to put the skids under this, aided by the double agents Collins and McCain. McCain is probably just desperate to throw a spanner in the works before he dies to harm the guy that won the Presidency when he couldn’t.
