Blimey, isn’t the world changing?

She wrote that Weinstein required her to have casting discussions with aspiring actresses – after they had private appointments in his hotel room. She suspected that she and other female Weinstein employees were being used to facilitate liaisons with “vulnerable women who hope he will get them work”.

The casting couch is now verboten.

  1. Why is the organiser of all those events for Hilary suddenly being cut loose? I dare say he’s insufficiently useful in some way, so now all those stories from the likes of ms Judd can be told 🙂

  2. Makes you wonder why nobody mentioned it when he put on a pussy hat and went marching with the sisters against Trump…

  3. He tries to shag would be female stars on the basis that they hand over their goodies and then get some interview with a casting director? Who will likely say no anyway?

    Sounds like a lousy deal.

And as age moves Ashley Judd’s external appearance to align with her internal qualities it is notable that she said nothing about these supposed outrages at the time they allegedly occurred. It seems that wrong only becomes wrong after you are no more use to the left–or rather one more bit of use can be had from you by demonising you.

Hell–even Satan was loyal to his henchmen. What ugly scum the left are.

No, Hillary and her people are being cut off. The Democratic party has two ways to go: Hillary lost because the Democratic message is unpopular (the “half the people are misogynistic racists” narrative), or Hillary lost because she was a flawed candidate.

Obviously blaming the Democratic narrative or half the American people is a no-go, so they will lay all the blame on Hillary.

  5. Indeed @synp. But if his company wasn’t tanking (and having interned Obama’s daughter), I daresay they could have found him a place at the table. But if he’s no longer powerful….

This man got away with decades of abuse of young women because he was a fully paid up member of the Leftist Club and because other people in Hollywood protected him.

The Democrats are moving so far to the Left that they seem to have left him behind. I have to say I take pleasure in that. I think a lot of rich people support the Democrats because they think the laws they support will not apply to them. When it comes to paying taxes Hollywood has long since shown the way to not pay them.

However if a Muslim man had been abusing White girls for this long, most of this group would be saying something. This man is not Muslim though.

    Malia Obama interned with Weinstein.

Of course he is more likely to prey on the weak and defenceless but I wonder …..

“However if a Muslim man had been abusing White girls for this long, most of this group would be saying something. This man is not Muslim though.”

We are saying something. And the cases are not equivalent.

Making sexual propositions to adult women who can take or leave is not at all the same as sex abuse on under-aged –and in some cases little–girls.

Making such a proposition to an adult woman only becomes wrong by reason of being false ie the proposer has no intention to live up to his side of the deal. If he did live up to it a shag for a real chance at a career as a Movie Star is not at all a bad deal for a young woman.

Assuming of course the proposer has not already made some agreement to dispense career equity on behalf of a an employer or a group he has a contract to cast for. In the case of say Howard Hughes who was his own money man etc the offer would be moral at the level of a freely agreed contract.

  9. The thing is that Judd was just a young hottie. Never a great actress.

If you’re Harvey Weinstein what else would you do? There are some actresses who provide rare talents – the Judi Denches and Cate Blanchetts, but most are undistinguished and not very good. Now, you could argue that lowering the rate would sort this, but the value of doing a part often goes beyond benefits to that film. Actresses that win Oscars can raise their rates. You get union rate for the Oscar film, then make millions for doing crap.

    and who should ’scape whipping?

Mr Ecks – “Making sexual propositions to adult women who can take or leave is not at all the same as sex abuse on under-aged –and in some cases little–girls.”

I agree. But to systematically prey on girls from the majority community is still interesting. Can they take it or leave it? Up to a point.

“Making such a proposition to an adult woman only becomes wrong by reason of being false ie the proposer has no intention to live up to his side of the deal.”

Actually I think that people ought to be able to go to work without their boss forcing them to give him a massage while naked. Maybe that is just me.

Bloke on M4 – “Actresses that win Oscars can raise their rates. You get union rate for the Oscar film, then make millions for doing crap.”

I am not sure that is true. Winning the Oscar is often the end of a woman’s acting career. Let’s call it the Helen Hunt effect. I assume they get too expensive or that awards come after a body of respectable work – by which time they are too old to work.

It is interesting that is turns out everyone knew. As everyone did. Even Vogue’s deputy editor or whatever has tweeted that they knew.

But kept it quiet. I wonder why?

It would be interesting to know if Tom Cruise’s character in Tropic Thunder was based on Weinstein as it is supposed to have been. Cruise himself suggested the role – they wanted him for something else – and also suggested the dance to Low. Which is really the outstanding role in the film. Cruise is a useless pretty boy but when he wants to do something else, he can actually act. He does bad guys especially well. He is very good in TT. He is also surprisingly good in Collateral.

So it was well enough known for the man to be parodied by Hollywood. But no one said or did anything. What does the Left say? Silence is complicity. In the meantime yet another woman has come forward to say Roman Polanski raped her as a 15 year old. Our moral betters.
