Possibly of limited interest, a history of the 16th Royal Scots, the battalion based, originally, around Herts, the football club.
But damme, it’s well done, bloody well done.

“Hearts”
And your link is broken – it’s taking us to the affiliate account control panel, rather than the book.
Herts is how Edinburghers pronounce it.
As SE.
I know the author, he lives across the road from my late father’s house in Edinburgh. He’s a nut for anything on the Royal Scots and his house is full of material on them.
When I played my rugby on Wednesday afternoons I used to watch Hibs on a Saturday more often than Hearts because at the time Hibs played the better football. It was the era when a team would often field a chubby chappie, or even two, in midfield who would be noticeably skilful and therefore make the team good to watch.
“Herts is how Edinburghers pronounce it.” That’s because “hert” is how one pronounces “heart”. Or did in the school playground.
Also as SE. Is it McCrae’s Battalion by Jack Alexander?
Naosjam, yes, indeed.
Sighs. Still, better than having got yesterday’s “sodemise” right 🙂
Apologises.
Hearts Memorial on Sunday 12th. November. Very big turnout at 11am.

Not any I’ve spoken with, they all pronounce Hearts as harts. Unlke the puzzling Hoburn and Toaster.
Pcar
Herts (Hertfordshire) is pronouced Harts…
OK, forget Edinburgh, try Happisburgh.
