In geopolitics, his targets are always the same: the forces of multilateralism, cooperation and international order, whether it’s Nato, the EU, the UN or even the G7. He wants to see those bodies weakened and destroyed, replaced by a dog-eat-dog world of single states, dealing with each other one-on-one.

Asking that the members of Nato cough up the money they’ve already pledged to make Nato work is weakening, destroying, it, is it?

  1. It’s not quite that simple is it? For a number of decades US presidents have been politely asking these organisations to stand by what they, themselves, have committed to. And the response has been cocking a deaf-un & business as usual. Now they’ve a president who’s saying there’ll be consequences. If they want to pull their houses down on their own heads, they’ve only themselves to blame.
Trump’s introduced TANSTAAFL as a principal of diplomacy.

  2. God Bless Trump!!!

The wailing and weeping of hysterical leftist dickheads is epic.

And the fucking balloon. From being Hindenberg sized and floating o’er the HoC like Doom itself it turns out to be “the size of a small van” “not as big as a bouncy castle” and on a string 15 ft in the air. The biggest problem for Trump would be pissing his underpants laughing.

£18,000 the womi cunts paid for it–£18000. There must a very profitable business out there in bilking leftist buffoons. After all they are loaded with middle class cash bounty and thick as pigshit.

  3. Every organisation, whatever its stated purpose, prioritises survival and seeks to expand its reach. Unless shaken up from time to time organisations degenerate into useless parasites. So if Trump is shaking them up that’s great.

  4. I find it somewhat ironic that The Grauniad, adamant that it is that the UK should uphold all its commitments to the EU and pay shedloads of alimony that even the govt’s lawyers reckon isn’t due, should find it so terrible that Mr Trump expects that the members of NATO should do the same.

  5. I’m convinced that Leftists haven’t ever grown up, haven’t moved psychologically from being children to fully autonomous adults. Their attitude to the US displays this – they rail against the US like a hated parent, yet expect the parent to still provide for them, to pay for the food they eat, the house they live in. Its the classic behaviour of a child, not a rational adult.

  6. … his targets are always the same: the forces of globalism, whether it’s Nato, the EU, the UN or even the G7. He wants to see them weakened and destroyed, replaced by a world of sovereign states, dealing with each other one-on-one.

    Fixed it for them.

As for the blimp, does it not imply that Trump’s influence is only in its infancy? The soyboys responsible (who may well have made a tidy profit from the venture) don’t seem to have thought this through.

  7. ‘He wants to see those bodies weakened and destroyed, replaced by a dog-eat-dog world of single states, dealing with each other one-on-one.’

The ‘dog-eat-dog world’ is called “sovereignty.”

Freedland and the Guardian are against it.

  8. They have finally realised that he is calling the institutions of globalism (the Washington Consensus) to account? For decades now they have been run for the benefits of their (non tax paying) staff and the multinationals and their lobbyists. The IMF, UN, (and all its agencies) NATO, WTO, NAFTA, TPP, World Bank, EU..all of them need reining in.

  9. Bloke in North Dorset

Where were the Guardian columnists when Obama told Cameron to get spending up to 2% or forget the special relationship?

  10. Trump wants to destroy the Eu to make the region weaker so the superpowers like USA can bully small European states. Europe becomes a geopolitical proxy region for the superpowers, like South East Asia, Africa or South America.
HE HAS NO INTEREST IN MAKING EUROPE STRONGER.
