Google to shut down Google+ after failing to disclose user data leak

Well, yes, that’s the time line. But more to do with the place being a howling wasteland, no?

  1. Quite. “Security leak here, boss”. “How much will it cost to fix it” “a few million” “G+ isn’t worth that, kill it”

  2. Proves something anyway. Possible to launch a platform that’s too moronic for even the Twatter & Whatsapp crowd. A not inconsiderable feat.

  3. not many on a global scale, and I doubt that those half-million made much use of it, so hardly a rich resource to data-mine.

  4. If I recall correctly, it became mandatory to sign up to Google+ in order to carry on using some of the facilities of Youtube, such as subscribing to channels and commenting. That’s what I had to do and I’ve never used Google+ for anything else. I doubt I’m alone, so it’s likely that they have a large unwilling membership.
