  1. Think back a few decades and it was fashionable for every respectable celebrity of any standing to attend regular sessions with their personal “shrink” – or psychotherapist.

    In those times, to admit to not having a shrink was socially demeaning because the admission implied boring normality which sooner or later would adversely impact on the frequency of celeb job offers.

    However, the attribute was over-exploited by some and the prospect of boring normality began to look an increasingly attractive feature for some celebs. Perhaps also as the result of the sustained onslaught of psychologists like Prof Eysenck on the fraudulent claims made on behalf of psychotherapy, the practice went into steep decline and there was grievous unemployment among droves of psychotherapists. But there is now hope for them . .
