There\’s a very definite part of me that thinks that this is the important news.
"England wins" is good, admirable, enjoyable. Hard work, done well.
"France loses" is simply delightful.
Europe, eh?

I bet on France. On the basis if we win, I lose. If I lose, we win. I think it’s called hedging.
For me “Australia loses” trumps “France loses” but I don’t understand why.
Cos it’s rarer, Kit.
Personally I think it all boils down to what France actually loses. Some examples:
France loses war: Oh no, not again…
France loses knickers: That would be Edith…
France loses Algeria: Fish loses dirtbike.
France loses temper: Situation normal.
France loses money: Hide the cash under the soap.
France loses farm subsidy: Hide the sheep, and the petrol.
France loses inhibitions: Just hide.
