The Irish Economic Miracle

What I said there is a matter of public record: “the phenomenal economic progress that Ireland has made in recent years has a lot to do with national policies, and with peoples’ ambition and drive. But I think that it is fair to say that EU membership over the past thirty-five years has helped a bit.”

Margot Wallstrom.

Even the Vice President of the European Commission thinks that it was a combination of low corporate taxes and  highly educated workforce (the national policies) rather than EU subsidies which created the Celtic Tiger.

Good, now that\’s sorted, let\’s have rather less about the iniquties of tax competition shall we?
