Over the past few years I have been carer to several elderly infirm relatives. In my experience, the locums tend to have a much higher referral rate to the hospitals, than the regular GPs who visit during the day. This seems to stem from a CYA methodology. They can continue to profit from their attendance, while offloading ultimate responsibility back to the NHS trust hospital. There isn’t enough, or any, triage going on. I dread to think what that is ultimately costing. Leave a Reply Cancel replyYour email address will not be published.
