Drug War Idiocy

Gordon Brown today gave his backing for cannabis to be reclassified as a more serious drug later this month in a move that will reverse its downgrading by his predecessor.

Sigh.

It\’s all been based on a quite startling campaign of misinformation.

After becoming Prime Minister last June, Mr Brown ordered a formal review into the classification of cannabis which is due to report later this month.

Today\’s comments from the Prime Minister suggest he will push ahead with reclassification regardless of what the review concludes.

Sigh.

  1. It’s so frustrating because it is so transparently obvious that the government has been softening up the public with a slew of stories about the dangers of cannabis and that retarded ad campaign too, but people still buy into their bulshit. Gah!

  2. We don’t need any more evidence the man is a cretin but it keeps coming…

Roll on the next election! What’s the latest date he can possibly hold it, cos I want to put a tenner on it being that day!

  3. Most drugs were banned thanks to the efforts of American abolitionists operating in the 19th and early 20th century. This happened from about 1910 through to the 1920s. Prior to that, opiates, cocaine and so on were perfectly legal. There was not a drug addict problem. Making them illegal is stupid. It makes them forbidden fruit. Also, did no-one learn from the US prohibition of alcohol? Doh!

We already have laws covering naughtyness under the influence of alcohol and drugs, so………….decriminalise them, educate potential users in their safe use (yes, they can be used safely just as they can be abused……..just like alcohol ideed but this cannot be stated publically in the media because drugs are evil……except when used medicinally of course…….patients in great pain get ……morphine or even heroin……but hey, I’m allowed to prescribe it, so it’s quite legal), guarantee the purity and regulate the ‘strength’ of them, slap a reasonable tax on them and make them available through pharmacies.

Crime stats halved instantaneously, drug barons out of business, gang warfare reduced, and deaths from tainted drug use eliminated.

Wasters who abuse themselves will be self selected out of the gene pool. Society in general will improve.

  4. RE: Chalcedon. What a wonderful and progressive sheltered middle class idiot you are. “Crime stats halved instantaneously, drug barons out of business, gang warfare reduced, and deaths from tainted drug use eliminated.” Seriously what fucking planet do you live on?

Holland has decriminalized drugs and tried harm reduction. Shootings increased 42%, robberies 64%, and car thefts 64%. This experiment which was meant to decrease organized crime resulted in an increase in organized crime families from 3 in 1988 to 393 today. The number of registered marijuana addicts has risen 34% and the number of other addicts has risen 26%.

Drug dealers should be executed on the streets by the Police, in full view of the public. And drug use or possession should carry a credible minimum prison sentence.
