Of course by far the worst legislation we have is the finance legislation – this week shows how few MPs understood what they voted for last year – strangely enough it is finance legislatio that the Lords can’t reject
It doesn’t necessarily follow that a unicameral system provides less oversight. One could say the same about having fewer MPS – ‘we don’t have enough oversight and now he wants fewer MPs’, but I think about the best thing for parliamentary scrutiny would be to have say just 200 MPs.
Unicameralism sounds good to me.
(I trust he is talking about getting rid of the Commons).
