Richard Reeves

We have an overpowerful executive. We don\’t have sufficient scrutiny of legislative proposals.

So Richard Reeves suggests we should move to a unicameral system.

Genius, absolute friggin\’ genius.

Please, somebody shoot either me or him.

  1. Of course by far the worst legislation we have is the finance legislation – this week shows how few MPs understood what they voted for last year – strangely enough it is finance legislatio that the Lords can’t reject

  2. It doesn’t necessarily follow that a unicameral system provides less oversight. One could say the same about having fewer MPS – ‘we don’t have enough oversight and now he wants fewer MPs’, but I think about the best thing for parliamentary scrutiny would be to have say just 200 MPs.
