What exactly are the ethical arguments against me accepting £5,000 for one of my kidneys?

I think the fear is, that people who are desperately poor and ignorant might be taken advantage of by being persuaded into selling those seemingly redundant bits without thought for their own future needs. It’s Nanny State, if you like, but maybe in this case not entirely a bad thing. A prostitute who rents out her – or his – body to make money has the option of doing something else instead; once a kidney is gone, it’s gone.
