  1. I very suspicious of the Telegraphs numbers. His shows we have been consuming more oil than we produced for the last 10 years.

  2. I’ve figured it out with the help of BP.

    He is not comparing like with like. As BP say:

    “Differences between these world consumption figures and world production statistics on page 8 are accounted for by stock changes; consumption of non-petroleum additives and substitute fuels; and unavoidable disparities in the definition, measurement or conversion of oil supply and demand data.”

    Basically he is wrong and current oil prices cannot be blamed on supply problems. Doesn’t the Telegraph employ fact-checkers?
