Indeed, and it’s been massively reported with well-deserved outrage everywhere, as with all cases where a woman is prosecuted for lying about a rape. Without checking Factiva, my guess is that they occur about once every six months. But let’s go for the masive over-estimate of 20 per year to be charitable.
According to the British Crime Survey, 0.2% of women over 16 are raped in a given year – which is about 40,000. About 12,000 rapes are reported, and less than 1,000 rapists are convicted.
That doesn’t exactly imply the radical feminists have control of the system and are using it to subjugate the male race, does it?

She didn’t get anyone arrested, but who knows what would have happened if she hadn’t retracted, or if a likely loking ‘suspect’ had walked past?

Interestingly, it seems that in johnb’s world, a four-inch report in the local ‘Southend Echo’ counts as being ‘massively reported with well-deserved outrage everywhere, as with all cases where a woman is prosecuted for lying about a rape’.
And that it doesn’t really matter if an innocent man is swept up in a police operation, fingerprinted, databased and his future career possibly hamstrung, because it probably only ‘occurs once every six months’.
Whatever happened to ‘Let justice be done, though the heavens fall..’?

Please, do fuck off. Of course it matters, of course the rozzers in question should be roundly horsewhipped, just that a few really really bad cases involving vindictive women and innocent men don’t alter the fact that cases where rapists get away with it are far more common.

Not in the “every acquittal is a guilty person getting away with it” sense – just, definitionally, if someone gets raped and nobody goes to jail (whether that involves an innocent man being wrongly prosecuted and rightly acquitted, a guilty man being rightly prosecuted and wrongly acquitted, or nobody being prosecuted at all), then a rapist has got away with it.
