He was so bloody poisonous, that all of our coalfields were written off to spite him. He was a great big steaming pile of mouth and nowt else, and the miners who followed him have had many years to ponder their mistake. Just after that strike I think it was, I was on a cruise liner, Far East, Honkers or Singapore, and one of the other passengers, a well-off bloke from Yorkshire, was getting a lot of unwanted press attention.
