With neither Labour nor the National Party expected to storm elections in Australia, the Maori Party hold the balance of power

I don\’t think that Australian elections include a Labour or a National party, do they? And certainly not enough Maoris to make a difference….

  1. The Australians do have a National Party – they are a country party that is usually in coalition with the Liberals. But the other guys have always called themselves the Labor Party.

  2. The Labor Party changed their spelling at some point in their history. I think it was to differentiate themselves from a number of other proclaimed ‘Labour Parties’ in Australia at the time.
