On that "connection" between cannabis and schizophrenia.
My thanks to Bruce Charlton for the link to the original paper.

That’s good digging, but even that recent ACMD report said:
“The odds ratio for developing schizophrenia in someone with a first-degree relative (i.e. parent, sibling or offspring) with the condition – compared with someone who has not – is about 10 (in the absence of cannabis use). In this instance, the size of the odds ratio strongly suggests a causal role for genetic factors.”
and also referred to a Danish Report:
Arendt M, Rosenberg R, Foldager L, Perto G, Munk-Jorgensen P (2005) “Cannabis-induced psychosis and subsequent schizophrenia-spectrum disorders: Follow-up study of 535 incident cases.” British Journal of Psychiatry
187: 510–515.
Hadn’t actually read the report, Mark. Ta both to you and Tim for the info. Fascinating stuff all. Frankly, I still find it amazing that our legal system suggests jail as a reasonable response to people eating or breathing something.
