Yes, that´s the way to go and it has been all along.
Clear out the wreckage of the debts, the promises made and allow the assets to be employed productively. If they can´t be employed productively, then Chapter 7 beckons…..liquidation, not just bankruptcy.
Obama does flirt with everything from the insanely stupid to the perfectly sensible. I have no idea what to make of the guy, personally.
You notice they don’t mention Ford, who have been doing the decent thing and swapping debt for equity at market values (i.e. considerably below par value).
Tim, do not cheer yet. Let’s see if my President figures a way out to protect union members. My guess is GM will leave bankruptcy still a zombie and the unions agreements protected to a far greater degree than they should be protected.
