Perhaps the WI should invite this lady onto their committee; then, instead of its members competing to see how many buns they can get into the oven, they can compete to see how many they can get out of it.
You might recall a TV programme that was popular in the 1970’s and ’80’s, featuring spotty youths competing to see which nerd could build the nerdiest contraption. It was hosted by a wild-haired, and sometimes quite frightening, German doing a mad scientist routine. It was called ‘The Great Egg Race’.
