I’m fairly sure Hayek (and the Austrian school) was correct, or at least more correct than Keynes. Unfortunately Keynes’ thesis is a lot more acceptable to those who wish to inflict big government on us.
I have been reading up on my Keynes and it is amazing how his views changed over time. Modern day Keynesians tend to rely on his 1930s work and ignore in later writings which contradict his earlier stuff.
(For balance I should add that Hayek is equally contradictory)
