£ 33 million cocaine seizure

A Royal Navy frigate has seized cocaine with an estimated wholesale value of £33 million from a speedboat off the coast of South America.

Hmmm. 750 kg they got…..they\’re valuing it at £44 a gramme.

That might be the wholesale value inside the UK (don\’t know, sorry, not my milieu really) but it sure as hell ain\’t the wholesale value off the coast of Columbia. (Ah, yes, Wikipedia, that\’s the street price in the UK).

Actual value where it was found? Maybe a tenth of that.

The usual sort of weasel words about drugs then, boasting about how much they\’ve seized without taking into account where they\’ve seized it.

  1. The media doesn’t understand value.

They often value crude oil reserves at today’s prices, regardless of extraction and transportation costs, or the fact that much of the income will be in several years time.

They also compare large companys’ revenue to small countrys’ GDP.

  2. These drug runners are profiteering and watering down the product, and they can get away with it because the product is illegal.

Further up someone wants to ban private medical care and private schools, I wonder what will happen…

(in stentorian tones) “You are accused of the heinous crime of unlicensed learning, and that you did wilfully and wantonly discover facts by yourself. How do you plead?”
