Kay Tie July 24, 2009 at 10:29 pm “From the church of “Everyone is stupid except me and people like me, and it is our duty to rule the stupids”.” Isn’t that the definition of a church? Ian B July 24, 2009 at 11:05 pm Isn’t that the definition of a church? Well, my local vicar seems like a nice enough chap. 🙂 The thing really about these posts quoting Murphy is that they sort of give the impression he’s saying something surprising or novel. But he’s just articulating the progressive gospel, and you’ll find these views aired wherever proggies associate, whether in Real Life™ or on the internet. David Gillies July 24, 2009 at 11:37 pm It’s the overweening de haut en bas tone that gets me. It’s odds-on that I’m a good deal smarter (and well-read) than Murphy, but I hope I would never be so bloody condescending. As has been pointed out here before, Murphy is the example par excellence of the Dunning-Kruger effect. David Gillies July 24, 2009 at 11:38 pm …that should be ‘better-read’, of course. CountingCats July 25, 2009 at 5:39 am What I don’t understand is why we take any notice of him? The man is a complete fruit loop and uninformed with it. All we do in discussing him is drive traffic to his site and make him feel as if his message is getting out. Is it just some horrid fascination with what insane inanities he will come out with next? JuliaM July 25, 2009 at 6:54 am “Is it just some horrid fascination with what insane inanities he will come out with next?” Indeed. Even though, when you see a car crash, you know it’s awful for the occupants and anyone affected by it, you just can’t look away… jus'askin July 25, 2009 at 8:53 am Since Tim was kind enough to point out that Murphy is a recipient of Ford Foundation largess, I’ve been harbouring a theory that the man is working on a secret project to push the envelope of left wing thinking past a tipping point into irretrievable philosophic collapse. On that basis, an article on the logical necessity of eating our own offspring is probably only weeks away…… Kay Tie July 25, 2009 at 11:27 am So reading Richie is the blogosphere equivalent to rubber-necking? Pogo July 25, 2009 at 5:38 pm Or, perhaps, the equivalent of paying tuppence to view the inmates of Bethlehem Hospital. Leave a Reply Cancel replyYour email address will not be published.
