That’s nothing. I once had a huge row with almost an entire bank staff over the Dollar exchange rate.
The fifth person involved was sufficiently clued up to realise that £100 converted into US Dollars wasn’t likely to be $50 whatever the rate was ……. the rest didn’t grasp the difference between multiply and divide.
We talk a lot about financial literacy being important but the problem here is literacy in general.
When bank staff (who you would assume are numerate) cannot tell the difference between divide and multiply (and I am sure this happens) then what can you do?
