Are we entirely sure that when a startling number leave 11 years of compulsory education without being able to read, write or do sums, that this is entirely the best allocation of limited resources?
OFSTED has never been about measuring education quality.
At best it tells you that schools with tough intakes do worse than leafy middle class areas.
The interesting thung is how little the number leaving with no qualifications has changed after fifty years of wrap around state edkashun.
Perhaps our responsibility to those who will not help themsleves has a limit ?
So the idea is to keep girls out of the top set, in order to allow less qualified boys a chance?
And presumably to keep black boys out of the sports teams for the same reason?
At least our present masters have decided to create the new man before imposing communist rule, unlike in say east Germany- far fewer will die on the way to this enterprise failing.
So education is now only one-third of the objectives of the education system?

The figure for 2006 was 5%. If the figure for 1956 was 5%, mine’s a hat burrito.
It’s just a way of attacking the good schools. The lefties hate the good schools, because they throw the failure of the bog-standard comprehensives into sharp relief. Whenever you get a good state school outshining all the surrounding schools in a labour controlled area, the local authority decides on a “reorganisation”, and it is the good school that gets the chop. Or if they can’t do that, they try to blight the good school by making it known that the school’s future is “under review”. This scares off the good teachers who tend to leave. And it scares off the parents who fear that their child’s education will be disrupted.
Socialism stinks.
