I’ve commented before that politicians, far from being the paternal figures they would like to be seen as, bear far more resemblance to pain-in-the-arse teenagers. They can’t think beyond next weekend, they borrow money we have to repay, they cause trouble with the neighbours we have to sort out and they never, ever give a straight answer to any question.
