A tragedy

Two people were confirmed dead and dozens injured on Sunday when a gas power plant exploded in Middletown, Connecticut, it has been reported.

And also a point to be made about the safety of different forms of generation.

This one accident in a gas fired plant has killed more than the entire US civil nuclear program.

So much for the dangers of nuclear power…..

  1. I seem to recall a “slogan of the day” – “More people died at Chappaquiddick than at Three Mile Island”…

  2. So Much For Subtlety

Keep in mind the Banqiao dam which broke in China during the Cultural Revolution and killed perhaps a quarter of a million people.

Nuclear power is the safest form of power we have.

  3. If you’re going to bring in a Chinese dam, you have to include Chernobyl as well.

I think Tim’s intention was to restrict the argument to western facilities.
