I think you will want more RAM, Tim.

Tim adds: Nah, we’ll be fine. It really is only a back up machine (not even a portable) to check email from the coffee table etc.

Ah but it won’t be. It never is just a back up machine.

Within days, you’ll be lounging on your sofa and it will become your main machine because it’s there, and it’s new, and you fancy playing with it and etc etc

Tim adds: Well, the back up machine that it’s replacing after three years didn’t manage that….

I’d have got a netbook, with RAM upgraded to max 2G.

Tim adds: When I get myself a travelling machine that probably is what I’ll do. With dongles for the different countries. But wifey, who this machine was for, wanted the larger screen.

That’s actually slightly faster than my development laptop (which is getting replaced soon). For SOHO use it’ll be fine.

All I see is some whitespace. I wouldn’t waste your money.

Or I could turn off AdBlocker for a moment….

Looks a lot like mine, which I only use for seeing if websites are rendering correctly under Internet Exploder (I do all my dev work with Mac and Linux). Unless you’re doing something compute-bound like image processing it will be fine.
