  1. I just came over here to tell you I got that, and I see so did you. So not a randomised thing.

    Apparently these sort of things can boost sales enormously. I knew someone who used to put his book on Waterstone’s Book of the Month stand and even that raised sales significantly.

    Tijm adds: Most of the Waterstones promotions you have to pay for (unless he was simply sliding his book off the shelf and onto the table!). Amazon, not so much I think.

  3. I bought The Hockey Stick from Amazon and they subsequently sent me similar marketing emails but I didn’t get that one.

  4. You could do worse than crib a page from Tim Ferriss’s Big Book of Blatant Self Promotion. But then he has a ton of social capital to start with.
