It’s a simple fact that a lot of cultures simply do not share the Anglo-Saxon obsession with thinness. For instance, an African family I know in London, all of the women would be classified as grossly overweight by any survey. Most of the kids as well. It’s me that gets criticised for being so skinny & told that I need a few decent meals. I would imagine for many of the more recent arrivals on UK soil carrying a few extra pounds is a status symbol not something to be ashamed of. BenSix December 27, 2010 at 12:42 pm Come to that, I’ve also seen immigrants – especially those from Asia – who could stand side-on and disappear from view. john malpas December 27, 2010 at 11:59 pm Quite a few of UK men would have died in that 24 years and death is very slimming. blokeinfrance December 28, 2010 at 1:57 am Only fourteen pounds in twenty four years, indeed. My little girl managed that in three. On current form that should mean she’ll weigh 134, 672 lbs by the time she’s 24. Leave a Reply Cancel replyYour email address will not be published.
